A Total Of 56 Thousand Tons Of Import Soybeans From The United States Arrived In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The National Food Agency (Bapanas) or the National Food Agency (NFA) revealed that as many as 56,000 tons of imported soybeans from the United States will arrive today, Sunday, January 15, 2023. The imported soybeans enter Indonesia through Cigading Port, Cilegon, Banten.

"We will unload 56,000 tons of soybeans this afternoon. So that the distribution can be accelerated quickly," said Head of Badanas, Arief Prasetyo Adi to VOI, Sunday, January 15.

It is planned that the dismantling of imported soybeans from the United States will be carried out by the Head of Badanas Arief Prasetyo Adi together with the Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan; West Java Governor, Ridwan Kamil; and the Governor of NTB; Zulkieflimansyah.

For your information, the government through Bapanas bought the imported soybeans from a private company for Rp. 12,000 per kilogram (kg). However, the government will distribute soybeans to to tofu and tempe craftsmen at a price of Rp. 11,000 per kg. The difference in price of Rp1,000 will be subsidized by the government.

The import soybeans from the United States are scheduled to enter Indonesia in December 2022. However, it has been postponed to January 2023.

Previously, the Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan said the postponement of the arrival of imported soybeans was due to problems. He revealed that the commodity had just arrived in Indonesia in January 2023.

"That soybean, I have spoken everywhere, I apologize. Because it is planned for December to come, but this is back again in January. Hopefully January (enters Indonesia)," he told reporters when met in Bogor, West Java, Friday, December 23, 2022.
