JAKARTA - The Perum of the Logistics Affairs Agency (Bulog) revealed that as many as 15,000 tons of imported rice from Vietnam will enter mid-February 2023.

The rice is part of 300,000 tons of imported rice in the second phase that will enter Indonesia.

Director of Supply Chain and Public Services, Perum Bulog Mokhamad Suyamto said, 300,000 tons of imported rice began arriving in the third week of February.

The rice was imported from four countries, namely Vietnam, Thailand, Pakistan, and Myanmar.

The first phase of the second ship was 15,000 tons from Vietnam. (Entering) in the third week, "he told reporters at Bulog Warehouse, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, Friday, January 13.

Furthermore, Suyamto said, for the first phase of imported rice as much as 200,000 tons, it will arrive entirely by the end of this month. So, said Suyamto, the delivery of the second phase of pararel with the third stage.

"So in the third week of February we are in a solidty. The remaining stages one and the second stage begin to arrive until February 28," he said.

Suyamto explained that Bulog did not send imported rice at once 300,000 tons in this second stage.

This is because it takes time from delivery to demolition.

It takes time for the demolition in Priok, in Merak it can't be done all at once. This means that we have to adjust the rhythm. Because if it accumulates in the loading and unloading here, it's anti-cost high. So we are waiting. Regulate the partnership so that everything runs smoothly," he explained.

Meanwhile, Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Arief Prasetyo Adi emphasized that the implementation of rice imports is targeted for completion before the main harvest.

"The lighting is March-April harvest, stop there should be no imports until before the main harvest. Then the stock here is released for stabilization. If this is not released, next year Bulog will have stock this year. We don't want that, we want to change it," said Arief.
