JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources stated that it had sent the oil and gas inspector to the location of the Rig Bohai-85 fire at the Jabung WBD-7 Working Area (WK) well in Jambi, which was operated by PetroChina International Jabung Ltd.

The Migas Inspector' team is still investigating to find the facts and causes of the fire.

"The results of the initial investigation that the fire incident began when an electrical assistant turned on the power share shaker, then a spark hit the oil layer above the mud tank causing a fire," Migas Technical and Environmental Director Mirza Mahendra told reporters, Thursday, January 12.

"Then action was taken to extinguish the fire using fire pumps and wells were temporarily shut down. The fire was extinguished by the firefighting team within 15 minutes," Mirza continued.

In this incident, he continued, there were two victims of burns who had been treated medically at the hospital and one victim with minor injuries was allowed to return home on Tuesday, January 10.

Mirza continued, investigations by the Migas Inspector Team to the location are still ongoing and will be fully reported after the inspection is complete.

The Rig Bohai-85 fire at the WBD-7 WK Jabung well in Jambi occurred on Monday, January 9.

Until now, oil and gas production activities at WK Jabung are still running normally, while an investigation is being carried out.
