International Hospitals In Bali Later Not Serving BPJS Health And Incar Local People Who Often Treat Overseas

JAKARTA - Head of the Bali Provincial Health Office, I Nyoman Gede Anom, said that international hospitals that will be opened in the Sanur Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Denpasar, will target local people who often seek treatment abroad.

"The main target of the hospital is Balinese or Indonesian people who often seek treatment abroad. There are approximately Rp. 82 trillion in Indonesian people who go out for treatment abroad, such as to Penang, Singapore, America," he said in Denpasar, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, January 11.

Anom explained, for this purpose, the central government's international hospital project through SOEs, will be managed by the Mayo Clinic as the reference standard.

The Sanur SEZ project, which was designed to be completed at the end of 2023, is also expected to be an option for foreign communities, so that the medical tourism effect will be felt, namely that they are not only seeking treatment but also traveling.

"We hope that from abroad we can seek treatment here. And also people from Singapore and Malaysia can seek treatment here rather than to America because it is far away, from Australia we can also seek treatment here," he said.

Anom said that the international hospital, which will be supported by large-capacity central meeting facilities in Sanur, was designed for high-end economic communities with the possibility of not serving BPJS Kesehatan and becoming type B.

There, there will be a flagship program, namely for cancer and kidney disease, as well as for leading medical personnel.

Anom said there was no information about medical personnel, but if the central government cooperates with local doctors, the Prof. Ngoerah Hospital doctor has the potential.

The Bali Provincial Government itself in 2023 is only tasked with facilitating the international hospital project at the Sanur SEZ, and is not building a new hospital, except for the Badung Regional Government, namely in Petang and Abiasemal.
