JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo asked all stakeholders to be careful in making decisions and forming policies amidst global uncertainty.

Jokowi said that 2022 was a tough year for the world while Indonesia did not feel any difficulties because the Indonesian economy was still growing in a normal position.

"We all have to be careful. We all have to work even harder even though we grow well in 2022," Jokowi said in his remarks at the PDI-P 50th Anniversary commemoration event at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Tuesday, January 10.

Jokowi said that today he had called the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani regarding the state update which became the IMF 'patient' because of difficulties in the economic sector.

"Just this morning I called the finance minister, how many are IMF patients? 16 countries have become IMF patients because the economy collapsed and 36 countries are queuing at the IMF door because they no longer have economic power in their country," Jokowi explained.

Previously, the Managing Director of Crystallina Saryova stated that 1/3 of the world's countries would fall into a recession in 2023.

In addition, the IMF also estimates that the global economy in 2023 will only grow 2.7 percent.

The IMF's estimate of the global economy in 2023 is lower than its estimate for economic growth in 2022 which is 3.2 percent and even a 6 percent growth realization in 2021.

"I'm not scaring you, but we all have to be careful and vigilant. Don't get the wrong policy, don't get the wrong policy so that it leads us to big mistakes," concluded Jokowi.
