JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Human Settlements has rehabilitated 14 Madrasahs in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) last year.

This is the commitment of the Ministry of PUPR in supporting the improvement of the quality of Human Resources (HR) through the development and rehabilitation of educational facilities.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the rehabilitation of educational facilities was President Joko Widodo's instruction to the Ministry of PUPR to accelerate the construction and rehabilitation of schools, madrasas, and the continuation of Construction in the Work (KDP) of State Universities (PTN)/PTKIN throughout Indonesia.

"We are continuing the construction of educational facilities to support improving the quality of human resources. Take advantage of the facilities that have been built. The next generation must be smarter because the facilities are better," Basuki said in a written statement, Tuesday, January 10.

Meanwhile, Director of Strategic Infrastructure of the Directorate General of Cipta Karya Essy Asiah said, throughout 2022, the Ministry of PUPR has rehabilitated and renovated 83 Madrasas throughout Indonesia and 14 of them are located in NTB.

"This is a mandate from Presidential Regulation Number 43 of 2019 concerning Development, Rehabilitation/Renovation of the People's Market, Higher Education Infrastructure, Islamic Religious High Infrastructure and Basic and Secondary Education Units," said Essy.

A total of 14 units of Madrasah Infrastructure Rehabilitation and Renovation work in NTB Province include MTSN 1 West Lombok, MTSN 3 Central Lombok, MTSN 3 East Lombok, MTSN 4 East Lombok, MAN Insan Cendekia East Lombok, MAN 2 East Lombok, MAN West Sumbawa, MIN 4 Sumbawa, MTSN 4 Sumbawa, MAN 2 Sumbawa, MTSN 1 Dompu, MTSN 1 Bima, MTSN 4 Bima, and MTSN 5 Bima.

On the other hand, the Head of the NTB BPPW Ika Sri Rejeki said that the Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation of Madrasah Infrastructure in NTB Province has been carried out since June 2022 and is targeted for completion in April 2023.

"Currently, physical progress has reached 50 percent of MYC's contract with a budget allocation of Rp. 60.6 billion sourced from the 2022-2023 State Budget," explained Ika.

The work is carried out by PT deep Romeuli Raya PT Bumi Seran (KSO) with a scope of activities in the form of preparation work, structural work, architectural work, electrical work, and building landscape work.

"After the construction is completed, we hope that the community and school managers can pay attention to its maintenance, so that the building can function optimally and the goal of improving the quality of human resources through education can be realized," said Ika.
