The Ministry Of Transportation Asks Banyuwangi Airport To Maintain The Green Airport Concept

The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation requested that the Banyuwangi Airport manager maintain the concept of a green airport or green airport. The reason is, this concept is the hallmark of Banyuwangi Airport.

This was conveyed by the Director General of Civil Aviation M. Kristi Endah Murni, after reviewing the facilities at Banyuwangi Airport and the Indonesian Aviation Academy (API) in Banyuwangi, East Java.

Kristi said the facilities available at Banyuwangi Airport were complete and could provide comfort for users of air transportation services.

"This Banyuwangi airport has a distinctive architecture in the Banyuwangi area as well as an airport that carries the concept of a green airport. This characteristic must be maintained and maintained," he told reporters, Monday, January 9.

Kristi said the Banyuwangi Airport architecture was inspired by the cover of the head of the Osing Tribe, which is a native of Banyuwangi. In addition, this airport has a natural air system with ventilation and spatial arrangements that make the air flow optimally.

"By carrying the concept of a green airport that uses grass and wood, the unique architecture of Banyuwangi Airport will receive the Aga Khan Award for Architecture 2022 award, which is one of the highest awards in the field of architecture," said Kristi.

For your information, Banyuwangi Airport, located in Blimbingsari District, Banyuwangi Regency, stands on an area of 125.5 hectares of land. The current runway length reaches 2,450 meters with a width of 45 meters so that this airport can serve Boeing 737 aircraft and Airbus A 320.

On the land side, there is an international terminal building covering an area of 600 square meters capable of a capacity of up to 80,000 passengers per year, while the domestic terminal building is 10,000 square meters so that it can accommodate a capacity of up to 500,000 passengers per year.

"Hopefully in 2023 there will be an increase in the number of passengers and aircraft movements at Banyuwangi Airport, so that the mobility of the community and goods to and from Banyuwangi and the surrounding area can be served properly," said Kristi.

In addition, Kristi also made a visit to the Banyuwangi Indonesian Aviation Academy (API). This school became the first Aviation School capable of operating Amphibious Aircraft and managing Water Airport (Seaplane). So that it gets an award from the Indonesian Record Museum.

As an educational and training institution under Transportation HR, API Banyuwangi is expected to continue to play a role as a pilot school capable of being a forum for preparing competent and accomplished flight human resources.

"Similarly with all employees and the Banyuwangi API academic community, in order to fully support all teaching and learning activities, work professionally and update capabilities according to the needs of the aviation industry," he said.
