JAKARTA - PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk is optimistic that credit card transactions will grow in 2023, among others, driven by Bank Indonesia's policy of providing stimulus in the form of extending credit card relaxation.

Bank Mandiri SVP Credit Card Group Erin Young explained, the policy will be able to stimulate the credit card business in 2023. "We believe this policy can encourage customers to increase the number of Mandiri Credit transactions," Erin said in a statement quoted by Antara, Friday, January 6.

Moreover, this relaxation policy is implemented inclusively or can be enjoyed by all customers of Independent Credit Card holders. Erin said credit card transactions will grow because of the potential growth of several sectors such as food, beverages, travel, and utilities in 2023.

"This factor is also supported by the revocation of the government's policy of implementing restrictions on community activities (PPKM) at the end of 2022," he said.

The volume of Mandiri Credit Card transactions at the end of December 2022 experienced growth above 32 percent year on year (yoy), while the number of transactions also increased throughout 2022 to 43 million transactions until December 2022.

"This is mainly driven by an increase in card present transactions due to people's mobility which has returned to normal. Transactions from travel related merchants (airlines, hotels, restaurants, and Online Travel Agents) have also increased significantly, as well as international transactions," said Erin.

In seizing this opportunity, Bank Mandiri has innovated by synergizing the Credit Card Mandiri service at the Super App Livin' by Mandiri, adding the Power Cash feature or cash withdrawal from credit cards for selected customers, as well as QRIS payments with credit card funding sources through Livin' by Mandiri.

The addition of this feature, continued Erin, was carried out to meet the transaction and financial needs of customers and complete the ease of the company's flagship application.

Through this innovation, customers can easily manage credit cards directly from the application. Bank Mandiri is always responsive to the development of customer needs for banking solutions that can directly facilitate customers' daily lives," he explained.
