President Jokowi Asks Pertamina To Take ADVANTAGE Of Technology To Encourage Domestic Oil And Gas Production

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized the importance of using technology and digitization in encouraging increased domestic oil and gas production.

"The first technology, digitization, must be used to monitor. Here I see that the movement of every heavy equipment, existing drilling tools, can be monitored with digital monitors, this is good," Jokowi said as quoted by Antara, Friday, January 6.

Jokowi reminded Pertamina's important role in national oil production through a contribution of 70 percent.

Therefore, he requested that later the management that had been carried out in the Rokan Block could also be implemented in the Mahakam Block.

"If this is successful later, I also ask that Blok Mahakam be managed with the same management because Pertamina's task is to produce 70 percent oil from the production in our country," said Jokowi.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati said, PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan has begun to develop digitization in the management of the Rokan Block.

"We are all developing digitalization, so that every activity, every stage of this everything is regulated by digitalization online," he said.

"So we are not only monitoring the data, but also carrying out predictive processes and also predictive. So when there are problematic wells that have to carry out this maintenance, we know very well what to do," said Nicke.

In addition to digitization that has been implemented, Nicke revealed that in the future his party will implement the use of a number of new technologies that have never been used before in order to encourage the level of oil and gas production.

"So apart from what has been done previously, such as waterfood, steamfood, we will carry out chemical EOR and also international drilling which we believe can provide reserves which will eventually become a large production," said Nicke.
