JAKARTA - The Bali Province Bank Indonesia Representative Office (KPwBI) predicts Bali's economic growth in 2023 will still be driven by increased business field performance related to tourism and a number of construction projects carried out on the Island of the Gods.

"Business fields related to tourism, such as providing accommodation and eating and drinking, then transportation, and trade," said Bali Province KPwBI Head Trisno Nugroho in Denpasar, quoted from Antara, Thursday, December 29.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bali Province in the third quarter of 2022, Bali's economy grew by 8.09 percent (yoy) or strengthened from 3.05 percent (yoy) in the previous quarter.

"We are optimistic that in 2022 the entire Balinese economy will grow in the range of 4.60 5.40 percent," he said.

This, said Trisno, was mainly supported by improvements in the performance of the business field providing food and drink accommodation, then transportation, and trade in line with the increase in the number of tourists.

"So for Bali's economic growth in 2023, we project that it will still be driven by increased business field performance related to tourism," he said.

Trisno added, in the economic structure of Bali in the third quarter of 2022, the portion of business fields directly related to tourism, namely acmamin (food and drink accommodation) and transportation, reached 26 percent.

If it includes other business fields that support tourism, namely trade, construction, real estate, company services, it will reach 52 percent.

"Thus the development of the number of tourists coming to Bali will affect Bali's tourism performance and economic growth," said the former Head of KPwBI DKI Jakarta Province.

Trisno reminded that although Bali has extraordinary tourism attractiveness (culture, nature, sea, accommodation and others), there are three things that need to be considered for increased tourism.

First, accessibility. Bali can be developed as a Super Hub Tourism which includes Bali, NTB (Mandalika) and NTT (Bajo), both by air and by sea.

Second, is a attraction. In addition to natural tourism, the development of Bali as a medical & wellness tourism (medical and fitness tour), as well as a favorite place for digital nomads is very large.

"The third is promotion. Even though Bali is already famous, there are more European and American foreign tourists who come to Thailand. Therefore, we need to increase promotions to countries that are pockets of foreign tourists," said Trisno.

Construction projects that will also be the driving force for economic growth in 2023, such as the construction of the Gilimanuk-Bengwi toll road, Turyapada Tower, Benoa Harbor, Sidan and Tamblang Dams, and other construction projects.
