JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) continues to step on the gas to optimize oil pipeline utilization from the Rokan block managed by PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR). Since starting to flow the gas for the first time in February 2022, until the last week of December, the Rokan oil pipeline has succeeded in flowing oil up to 160 thousand Barrel Oil Per Day (BOPD).

The optimization of the Rokan pipeline will further strengthen Pertagas' performance as a subsidiary of PT Perusahan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN), the gas subholding of PT Pertamina (Persero).

Pertagas President Director Gamal Imam Santoso said the synergy between Pertagas and PHR was the key to the success of flowing oil from the Rokan block to the oil refinery in Dumai. This is especially during the transition phase from the old pipe to the new Rokan pipeline which was built by Pertagas since 2021.

"We are grateful for the very solid support and synergy with PT PHR, so that the process of transitioning Rokan oil from the old pipe to the new pipe will run well. Optimizing the Rokan oil pipeline will certainly have a positive impact on Pertagas' business fundamentals in the long term," explained Gamal Iman Santoso in his statement, Wednesday, December 28.

Gamal said that the completion of the Rokan oil pipeline, which is on schedule, is also the company's commitment to support PHR's production and performance. Moreover, as one of the main sources of national oil production, the Rokan Block has a strategic role in meeting domestic oil production targets.

"We will maintain the performance of the Rokan oil pipeline so that it operates optimally, so that every increase in oil production from the Rokan block can be immediately distributed to the refinery in Dumai. The synergy between Pertamina's Subholding is also a clear evidence of Pertamina's consistency in energy distribution for national energy security," Gamal added.

The Rokan oil pipeline was built in two corridors. Namely the Balam-Bangko-Dumai corridor and the Minas-Duri-Dumai corridor. The total length of the pipe reaches approximately 367 KM with a size of 4"-24". This pipeline passes in five regencies/cities in Riau Province, namely Dumai, Bengkalis, Siak, Kampar, and Rokan Hilir.

The construction of the Rokan oil pipeline is one of the new momentum for the oil and gas pipeline infrastructure project in the PGN environment. The reason is, in this project Pertagas is able to make project cost efficiency up to 150 million US dollars or around Rp. 2.1 trillion.

From the initial cost plan of 450 million US dollars, after conducting various studies and savings, the Rokan oil pipeline project could be completed at a cost of 300 million US dollars.
