Request For Flight Slotting Following 84 Percent, Said Minister Of Transportation Budi

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi revealed that there was a request for additional flight slots to increase by 84 percent. Budi is also in a dilemma with this condition.

Meanwhile, based on the records of the Ministry of Transportation, up to now there have been 166 requests for additional slots from various airlines, both from within and outside the country.

"This foreign slot is indeed a dilemma, if we follow by loan it should not be a foreigner (airline), we can't add it because we don't get out enough," Budi said, quoted Wednesday, December 28.

However, continued Budi, the number of foreign flights is very productive in providing flight services for both Indonesian citizens and foreign tourists.

"But one reality is that flights from foreigners are very productive in providing services for both Indonesian citizens and tourists who come to Indonesia," he said.

Therefore, Minister of Transportation Budi admitted that he would impose restrictions on flight slots for domestic and foreign airlines. The goal, so that no one is dominant.

"Therefore, we do batching how many one flight is the maximum. So that no foreign flights are too dominant in these activities," he said.

Furthermore, Budi said that for aviation alliances that are not included in the flight arrangements slot to Indonesia, they are required to make a cost share with domestic flights.

"Cost share means that domestic flights can also sell foreign flight tickets and it is agreed even though there is one alliance that is not commendable," he said.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) assigned the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi to carry out mapping related to flight time slots.

Budi said, this mapping is related to flight time slots both domestically and abroad because in front of the 2022 tanach, domestic flights have reached 71 percent compared to before the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Regarding this, the President gave direction so that the policy of adding flight slots is carried out carefully so that it remains productive and efficient," said Budi.

Budi said the Ministry of Transportation remains with President Jokowi's direction to continue to improve the ability of the airport so that it can serve well.
