Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto revealed that the automotive industry continues to record satisfactory performance. In fact, this sector is one of the important roles in supporting national economic growth.

Airlangga said, this sector was able to grow to reach 10.26 percent in the third quarter of 2022. Thus, this sector is also able to absorb large enough direct workforce.

"I congratulate all levels of CEOs and Leaders, Directors of PT Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia for the production of electric cars in Indonesia. This with electrification technology can certainly be one way to achieve Net Zero Emission," said Airlangga during a working visit to PT Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) in Cikarang, Tuesday, December 27.

Airlangga said the government also provided support for the Indonesian automotive industry to transform as a global player in the electric vehicle industry.

"And continue to encourage investment to support opportunities for the development of electric vehicles in Indonesia," he said.

On this occasion, Coordinating Minister Airlangga also expressed his appreciation for the use of latest VR technology facilities to be able to support the development of the manufacturing industry at PT HMMI.

Coordinating Minister Airlangga also appreciated the involvement of PT HMMI which has supported the implementation of the G20 Indonesia Presidency through the provision of electric cars.

"So we encourage this electrification to be successful and of course appreciate what Hyundai Motor has done and I see that this is one of the most modern and important related to the comfort of workers," said Airlangga.

After delivering his remarks, Coordinating Minister Airlangga reviewed the development of the PT HMMI factory which has a land area of about 77.7 hectares.

Airlangga had the opportunity to test drive one of Hyundai's electric cars, namely Ioniq Prime Xtend Black.
