JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conducted a trial of the Jabodebek LRT from Harjamukti LRT Station, Depok to TMII Station, East Jakarta along 9 km which was taken in about 12 minutes at a speed of 80 km per hour.

After conducting the trial, Jokowi expressed his opinion. He said, transportation is very comfortable and millions are not noisy or noisy. Another advantage is the speed of travel time.

"This train is comfortable, fast, not noisy, and without a driver. What is proud is that this is made by INKA (domestic), including a system without a driver," Jokowi said in an official statement after testing the Jabodebek LRT at LRT TMII Station, Monday, December 26.

Jokowi hopes that by July 2023 the Jabodebek LRT will be able to operate together with the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train.

"This has only been completed by 87 percent. The depot is still under completion, and small things are related to system synchronization," he said.

On the same occasion, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said, currently the Jabodebek LRT is in the testing phase of the driverless system or without a driver.

"Because this uses high technology, I ask that the trial be carried out properly, to ensure that the safety aspect has been fulfilled, before God willing, it will be operated in mid-2023," said the Minister of Transportation.

Budi said, the Jabodebek LRT can also accommodate up to 700 passengers and the average train frequency per day is 400 trips and is integrated with other modes of transportation, namely, Trans Jakarta and Jaklingko, Trans Patriot, KRL Commuter, Soekarno Hatta Airport Train, and Jakart-Bandung High Speed Train.

"Curity mass transportation is very important to continue to be developed, arranged, and optimized its use for the community. DKI Jakarta is one of the pilot cities in the construction of complete mass transportation. There are MRT, LRT, BRT, KRL commuter, Angkot, and others," said Budi.

For your information, the Jabodebek LRT project is one of the national strategic projects for urban mass transportation development. This infrastructure was built to reduce congestion levels in the capital city of Jakarta and the buffer lines for Jakarta such as Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi.

With the presence of the Jabodebek LRT, it is hoped that urban mass transportation will be more integrated, accessible, comfortable, and increase public interest in switching to mass transportation.

Present at the review were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Minister of National Development Planning Suharso Monoarfa, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, and Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono.
