MANADO - PT Jasamarga Manado-Bitung (JMB) estimates that there will be an increase in the volume of vehicles crossing the Manado-Bitung toll road by up to five percent in the New Year.
"The peak is estimated to be on December 31, 2022, it is estimated that there are as many as 6,700 vehicles passing," said the President Director of PT JMB, Florysco Partogi Siahaan, quoted from Antara, Monday, December 26.
Prior to the Christmas period, he said, the peak of traffic flow occurred on December 23, 2022, with a volume of vehicles passing up to 6,900 units, from usually 5,900 units.
"We are ready to face Christmas and this New Year to provide comfort for toll road users," he said.
The operational readiness of this toll road includes the mobilization of all elements in the transaction section, maintenance, and traffic services in synergy with a team from the police to check the readiness of the PT JMB team.
"But in principle we are always ready to face various events including Nataru 2022," he said.
Florysco also ensured that there had not been an increase in toll rates during the year-end period, even though toll road operations had been going on for more than two years since the tariff was set in October 2020.
"Toll rates are still the same, so until now there has been no toll tariff adjustment," he said.
The construction of the longest toll road in Sulawesi is useful for supporting the Bitung Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and the Likupang Special Economic Zone (SEZ), North Minahasa Regency which is one of the super priority tourism destinations.
The 39.9-kilometer Manado-Bitung toll road was also built to unravel congestion on the main road and cut travel times by up to 45 minutes, from 90 minutes.
