BALIKPAPAN - Balikpapan Refinery continues to operate and produce fuel oil (BBM) and LPG during holidays and Christmas-New Year celebrations.

"We set shifts, make sure the stock of raw materials is sufficient, and the full coordination with Pertamina Patra Niaga," said General Manager (GM) of PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) Balikpapan Unit Arafat Bayu Nugroho, quoted by Antara, Saturday, December 24.

The Balikpapan refinery is managed and run by PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional. This refinery produces 260,000 barrels of fuel per day to meet the energy needs of Central and East Indonesia.

Currently, the Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) Project is also underway, or a project to increase refinery production capacity to 360,000 barrels per day. The increase in production was obtained from, among other things, the ability of refineries to process various types of crude oil from various sources.

GM Arafat added, specifically for the Christmas and New Year holidays, PT KPI Balikpapan Unit has formed a Task Force for Control and Monitoring of the smooth distribution of fuel and LPG for the 2022 Christmas and 2023 New Year periods.

This task force ensures and supervises the reliability of the refinery in such a way above, namely ensuring human resource arrangements, ensuring the stock of raw materials for crude oil is sufficient. Then for the finished fuel and LPG, coordinate with Pertamina Patra Niaga to ensure that the fuel and LPG reach distribution points.

"We are also coordinating with stakeholders including security forces, local governments, and port authorities," continued GM Arafat.

These steps have also been reported to the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) during the visit of the institution to the Balikpapan Refinery some time ago. Thus, GM Arafat hopes that the Balikpapan Refinery operations can run well and smoothly and can meet the specified targets.
