Coal Stock Enough, PLN Makes SURE The Crisis Last Year Is No More Repetitive

JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) Executive Vice President, Dispriansyah ensured that the coal crisis like 2021 would not happen again.

For this reason, his party has prepared sufficient coal reserves at the end of 2022.

Dipriansyah revealed that his party had coordinated from mines to shipments to ensure coal supply.

The average day of PLN's generating operation (HOP) is currently above 20 days for each generator.

"Now at the end of every year we coordinate what the mine will start from. Then, what kind of transportation will it be when it arrives, if for example there is a problem where there is a replacement from," he said in a press conference quoted on Tuesday, December 20.

Dispriansyah also expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) and the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) for their assistance in securing PLN's coal supply.

"This year we are very confident that it is safe for coal supply," he added.

Previously, in early 2022 Indonesia had experienced a coal supply crisis and 10 million PLN customers were threatened with electric blackouts.

To prevent this, the government also decided to ban coal exports from January 1 to January 31, 2022.
