Cigarette Prices Rise As Of January 1, 2023, Check The Details Of The Increase According To Types And Groups

YOGYAKARTA The rising cigarette price rule has been released by the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

The regulation of rising cigarette prices is contained in the Minister of Finance Regulation Number 191/PMK.010/2022 concerning the Second Amendment to the Regulation of the Minister of Finance Number 192/PMK.010/2021 concerning Excise Tariffs on Tobacco Products in the Form of Cigarettes, Cigarettes, leaves or Klobots, and Tobacco Iris.

The PMK was signed by Sri Mulyani on December 14, 2022 and promulgated by the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna H. Laoly on December 15, 2022, or the day after.

In PMK Number 191/PMK.010/2022, Sri Mulyani set excise tariffs and cigarette retail selling prices effective from January 1, 2023. Thus, there will be an increase in cigarette prices and various productions of tobacco products starting early next year.

The price of retail selling per stick or gram and excise tariff per stick or gram of domestically made tobacco products will come into effect from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023," quoted by VOI from Article II PMK 191/2022 on Monday 19 December 2022.

Tobacco excise rates (CHT) or cigarette excise increases by an average of 10 percent on January 1 to December 31, 2023. This increase is the lowest during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Machine kretek cigarettes (SKM) I and II on average increased by 11.5 percent 11.75 percent, engine white cigarettes (SPM) I and II increased by about 11 percent, and hand kretek cigarettes (SKT) on average 5 percent.
