The Number Of Aircraft Passengers During Nataru Is Predicted To Be 3.1 Million People

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation estimates that the number of airplane passengers during the Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023 (Nataru) holidays will reach 3.1 million people.

Daily Executive Director General of Civil Aviation F Budi Prayitno said, a total of 402 aircraft are ready to serve passengers during this year's Nataru holiday.

In detail, 55 units of Garuda Indonesia aircraft, 91 units of Lion Air aircraft, 48 units of Citilink aircraft, 63 units of Batik Air aircraft, 3 units of Pelita Air aircraft, 63 units of Batik Air aircraft and 24 units of Susi Air.

Then, 17 AirAsia aircraft, 5 Sriwijaya Air units, 2 Nam Air units, 3 Trans Nusa units, 50 Wings Air units, four Trigana Air units and 37 Super Air Jet units.

"Overall, optimistic predictions for Nataru's 2022-2023 transportation range from 3,164,051 passengers," he said during a press conference Wednesday, December 14.

The details of the prediction of 3.1 million passengers consist of 2,707,866 domestic transportation and 456,185 foreign transport passengers. Furthermore, Budi explained, the number of domestic passenger transportation is projected to increase by 33.81 percent compared to the Nataru 2021-2022 period.

Meanwhile, international passengers are expected to increase significantly by 988 percent compared to the Nataru period last year which was only 41,919 passengers.

This supports the absence of restrictions on the movement of the number of airplane passengers soaring compared to last year.

Additional Flights

Budi said, a number of airlines proposed additional flights or extra flights to face the Nataru holiday this time.

The details, namely PT Citilink Indonesia, propose an additional total seat capacity of up to 8,280 seats. Then, there is PT Transnusa Aviation Mandiri with an additional submission of 5,760 passenger seats.

Then, continued Budi, PT Sriwijaya Air with a total addition of 480 seats.

"For extra flights abroad, the airline that proposed it was Malindo Air with the Kualanamu-Kuala Lumpur route with a total additional capacity of 2,880 seats," said Budi.
