The New Criminal Code Is Considered A Tourism Threat, InJourney Boss: Indonesia Still Has Many Tourism Visits

JAKARTA - PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney spoke about the policy of the Criminal Code (KUHP) which was passed some time ago.

This new KHUP is considered a threat to Indonesian tourism.

InJourney President Director Donypertonia denied the negative impacts caused by the enactment of the new Criminal Code.

The reason is, Dony admitted that he did not see any decreases or cancellations of international routes to Indonesia.

"We only see from the data, that what happened at our airport, especially for international arrivals, there was no decline, there was no cancellation," he said at the Ministry of SOEs in Jakarta, Tuesday, December 12.

Dony assessed that the oblique assumption of the impact of regulation on the Indonesian tourism industry is a strategy to bring down Indonesian tourism. Sabab, the Indonesian tourism industry has many competitors. "We have a lot of competitors in this tourism industry, people are also trying to bring us down, looking for things that are scary so people don't get here," he said. Furthermore, Dony said, all parties and information media must highlight the other side and positive perceptions. Thus, the presence of a new KUHP is not an obstacle for foreign tourists to travel in the archipelago. "But basically it's not what those people are afraid of. This is what I think requires socialization. We see the Minister of Tourism (Sandiaga Uno) also constantly carrying out the socialization process," he said. Not only that, Dony also asked all parties to work together in socializing and campaigning for travel experiences in the country to be very impressive and very interesting in each island. "Of course we both need to socialize that what we fear, we are afraid of not being like that basically," he said.

As is known, one of the articles in the new Criminal Code that is in the public spotlight regarding articles governing sex outside of marriage is threatened with one year in prison. "Everyone who has intercourse with someone who is not his husband or wife is convicted of adultery with a maximum imprisonment of 1 (one) year or a maximum fine of category II," reads Article 413 paragraph 1.
