Deputy for SMEs at the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs Hanung Harimba stated that 30 percent of the use of public infrastructure for Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in 2022 has been fulfilled as the results of direct monitoring in several areas of public infrastructure.

The provisions regarding rental rates have not met Government Regulation (PP) Number 7 of 2021, and MSME actors are considered not to have formed cooperatives in various public infrastructure.

"I hope that through this activity there will be open discussions to optimize the use of promotional spaces in public infrastructure, and can produce solutions to the challenges that are still being faced in the future," he said in an official statement, quoted from Antara, Monday, December 12.

As is known, PP 7/2021 mandates that ministries/agencies and local governments (Pemda), BUMN, BUMD, and/or private business entities are required to provide promotional places and the development of UMK at least 30 percent of the total land area of commercial areas, shopping area, and/or strategic promotional places on public infrastructure.

Promotion sites with strategies include terminals, airports, ports, train stations, rest areas, and toll road services.

"This program supports the acceleration of recovery and strengthening of MSMEs and the government also continues to strengthen the business ecosystem of MSMEs and cooperatives that are conducive, so that they are more competitive," said Hanung.

The provision of promotion and development of MSMEs in public infrastructure has contributed 41.6 percent, or 263,459 square meters of public infrastructure commercial land allocated to MSMEs. In addition, there are also 2,500 MSMEs in 117 Rest and Service Places (TIP) along the Trans Java toll road.

"In the future, managers need to activate public infrastructure areas as promotional sites for MSMEs. Such as providing a place for fashion show activities, the arts community, or media exposure," he said.

He explained that there are several challenges for MSMEs in public infrastructure, among others, the lack of synergy between local governments and infrastructure managers, rental rates that have not met the provisions, MSME products that are sold tend to be similar, and need the involvement of local governments in the curation of MSME products.

Therefore, it is hoped that there will be optimization of the use of promotional spaces in public infrastructure as mandated in PP 7/2021.
