JAKARTA PT PLN (Persero) uses State Capital Participation (PMN) through the development of Mataloko Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) with a capacity of 2 x 20 megawatts (MW).

"This is proof of the state's presence to bring electricity to all corners of the archipelago, as well as to develop new and renewable energy based on potential local resources," said General Manager of PLN Nusa Tenggara Development Main Unit Wahidin to the media, Thursday, September 8.

Until October 2022, it was recorded that the electrification ratio on Flores Island was still at 95.67.

PLN targets the electrification ratio to reach 100 percent in Flores by 2025.

Not only to electrify remote areas, but electricity from PLTP Mataloko can support tourism development on the island of Flores.

"We know that the Flores system also electrifies one of the priority tourist areas, namely Labuan Bajo. With the increase in electricity supply, it will certainly support tourism development. Moreover, the source comes from clean energy. Thus, this will provide a multiplier effect on community welfare growth and economic growth," Wahidin added.

Still, Wahidin said, PMN funds from the government were used to acquire 10.8 hectares (Ha) of land for the addition of four wellpad locations and one field for the PLTP area layout located in Ngada Regency.

Wellpad is a location designated for exploration and is the location for the placement of key components in geothermal development projects.

Meanwhile, the layout area is a location that will be used as a place to place the materials and equipment needed during the construction process.

Wahidin emphasized that in the survey process to the announcement of land acquisition for PLTP Mataloko, PLN had been carried out in accordance with the provisions.

In addition, PLN has deliberated and conveyed the value of replacement to residents openly in accordance with Law Number 2 of 2012 concerning Land Procurement for Development for Public Interest and Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation.

"We are grateful that the process is safe and smooth. The community accepts the replacement of their land well because all processes are transparent and supervised directly by the NTT High Prosecutor's Office," said Wahidin.

Wahidin acknowledged that the success of the Mataloko PLTP land acquisition sourced from the PMN budget was due to the support and collaboration of all relevant stakeholders, starting from local governments, the National Land Agency, and law enforcement officers who oversee all processes from the start.

"Thank you to all stakeholders involved and collaborated with us to realize green energy in Flores. This effort is in line with the government's commitment that the agenda for handling climate change is a national priority agenda," he concluded.

After land acquisition is carried out, PLN will then continue this project to the construction process. In accordance with the 2021-2030 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL), the Mataloko PLTP is targeted to be operational by 2025.
