Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati said Indonesia is one of the few countries in the world to list its assets and create a state balance sheet.

"I am managing director at the World Bank, I know that when I travel to several countries in the world, not many countries in the world have balance sheets," said Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani at the workshop "Recycling and Management of State Assets", quoted from Antara, Thursday, December 8.

The listing related to the location, conditions, and value of state assets in Indonesia was carried out when the government began to reform the management of state assets with the issuance of Law Number 1 of 2004 concerning State Treasury.

"We are getting better at organizing our country's assets. Previously, many state assets were not identified, uncertified, and were not taken care of," added Sri Mulyani.

State assets that are not recorded and taken care of have caused the state to suffer losses because some assets have disappeared or cannot produce added value optimally.

"So in the last 15 years we have asked all ministries, even local governments, to form a good balance sheet. One of the requirements for the balance sheet is to assess and regulate their assets, that's one of the important things," said Sri Mulyani.

Meanwhile, according to him, several countries in the world already have financial balance sheets, but their balance sheets have not been properly qualified.

In the future, he asked that state assets in Jakarta be abandoned after the central government moved to the State Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago in East Kalimantan to be recorded, identified, its location and condition, and assessed so that it could be utilized.

"That's a good starting point. So at least Indonesia after identifying our assets, location, condition, and value. And later we can identify how to use them optimally to maximize their value," said Sri Mulyani.
