PT PLN (Persero) has successfully completed the construction of a power grid on Muna Island through the transmission of the 150 kV Raha Baubau and GI 150 kV Raha Airlines.

The existence of this electricity infrastructure will increase the reliability of electricity and the inter-island economy in Sulawesi.

The first electrical voltage (energy) was successfully carried out in stages, namely the 150 kV Raha GI energy on December 2, 2022, the first line (sirkit I), then the energyze for the second line (sirkit II) on December 5, 2022.

General Manager of PLN Sulawesi Development Main Unit (UIP Sulawesi) Defiar Anis said the existence of the 150 kV SUTT between islands in Sulawesi would increase the reliability of electricity networks, especially on Muna Island.

Previously, electricity supply on the island still relied on Diesel Power Plants (PLTD) and a 20kV network from Baubau.

"The 150 kV Raha-Baubau SUTT transmission network is an electricity infrastructure that connects Muna Island and Buton Island along 99,625 kilometers-routes (kmr) starting from the 150 kV Baubau Substation (GI) to the 150 kV Raha Main Substation with 278 transmission towers," Anis told the media, Thursday, December 8.

According to him, the operation of this infrastructure will also optimize the distribution of power from the Baubau Oil and Gas Power Plant (PLTMG) with a capacity of 30 Mega Watt (MW) and PLTU Baruta with a capacity of 14 MW.

This is the initial part of the plan contained in the RUPTL to unite electricity networks on Buton Island and Muna Island with the main electricity system of Sulawesi.

Anis continued, there is also a crossing tower with a conductor passing over the Buton Strait, namely at TIP 231232.

He ensured that the construction of this network had complied with the rules for infrastructure that crossed the strait/waters.

"For the crossing tower, the conductor is installed in accordance with applicable rules where the height of the conductor's span is at least 55 meters from the surface of the highest tide (Higher High Water Tide/HHWL) so that the tower is built with an altitude of 97.9 meters," he said.

Anis added that PLN also prioritizes the use of domestic products in the development of electricity infrastructure.

"The construction of electricity infrastructure still takes into account aspects of the Domestic Component Level (TKDN), where the TKDN component used in the construction of GI 150 kV Raha reaches 60.33 percent and SUTT 150 kV Raha-Baubau reaches 84.75 percent," continued Anis.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Muna La Ode Muhammad Rusman Emba appreciated the development of electricity infrastructure in his area. La Ode is optimistic that the existence of this SUTT will boost the wheels of the economy on Muna Island and its surroundings.

"I represent the people of Muna Regency who thank PLN, because with this network to improve the electricity system in our area, of course this will be a strength for us because it will encourage the wheels of the economy here," said La Ode.

Moreover, said La Ode, currently there are many corn processing plants in Muna Regency. And, it is planned that there will be a construction of 1000 hectares of aid ponds from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, as well as industrial development in the East Muna area.

"The success of the construction of this SUTT will increase the enthusiasm for us to develop investment in Muna Regency because electricity is a major need in various sectors and for the community," concluded La Ode.
