PT PLN (Persero) has optimized the use of coal burning waste from Steam Power Plants (PLTU) in the form of Fly Ash and Bottom Ash (FABA) to build Jalan Sukawiradharma in Labuh Baru Barat Village, Pekanbaru, Riau.

In a written statement, Tuesday, December 6, as a form of commitment to protecting the environment, PLN utilizes FABA to build a road along more than 160 meters which is an alternative route to the main road in Pekanbaru. The utilization of this FABA is carried out through the Sumatra Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program for the 1 PLN Sub-Distribution Unit and Expense Management Center (UIP3B).

Chairman of the Sukawiradharma Community Group (Pokmas), Labuh Baru Barat Village, Giyono, expressed his gratitude for PLN's concern in building the Sukawiradharma road. According to him, residents are greatly helped by the construction of this FABA-based road.

"Thank you for PLN's concern, this assistance is very important for the residents of Sukawiradharma," said Giyono.

Prior to the PLN assistance, said Giyono, Jalan Sukawiradharma was built by the community independently. However, the construction of this road was then stopped due to limited funds.

"Through this TJSL PLN program, finally the Sukawiradharma road can be passed," said Giyono.

The local community leader, Wahyu Nofiyandri, appreciated PLN's concern for the assistance in road construction in its area. Wahyu explained that Jalan Sukawiradharma is an alternative route to the main road in Pekanbaru.

"Thank you to PLN for building this road, which we can already feel the benefits of," said Wahyu.

Wahyu also praised the quality of the roads built using the FABA. He hopes that the use of FABA will not only be implemented on one road but also implemented in several other areas in West Labuh Baru Village.

"After we saw, the road that was built using FABA had good strength, as evidenced by a large vehicle passing by, the road was not broken or cracked," Wahyu said.

General Manager of PLN UIP3B Sumatra, Daniel Eliawardhana said, PLN is committed to creating value through the use of FABA. One of them is using FABA as a road infrastructure material product.

"We hope that the construction of this road will facilitate community mobility, so that it can support economic activities," he said.
