JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry has started building the Indonesia Manufacturing Center (IMC) to realize an effective Penta-Helix collaboration this year. Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said it aims to increase the competitiveness and independence of the national industry through the development and improvement of mastery of industrial technology, so as to be able to produce industrial products that are still imported.
"To be able to develop and improve mastery of industrial technology, we view the need for effective collaboration with all stakeholders who have an important role in the field of industrial technology development, such as universities, research institutions, business actors, communities or communities, and the government, or what is referred to as the concept of Penta-Helix," Agus said in a press statement, Monday, December 5.
For your information, IMC will be built on an area of 11 hectares in Plered District and Tegalwaru District, Purwakarta Regency.
In the initial stage, the construction of two hectares includes a management building and an industrial coaching building whose financing comes from the State Budget of the Ministry of Industry.
"The Ministry of Industry places IMC in West Java, which is one of the provinces with the largest contribution to the national GDP and manufacturing sectors, so we want West Java and Purwakarta to become national icons in the development of the manufacturing industry," said Agus.
For the IMC development stage which includes coaching industry and other supporting facilities, Agus said, it is hoped that it can be done through mutually beneficial cooperation patterns between the government and the private sector or international research institutions.
"Several parties from countries that already have high industrial capabilities, such as South Korea and Japan, will also help build clusters in IMC. As we know, in every country with a more advanced manufacturing industry, it must have a manufacturing center," he explained. Along with the physical development of IMC, the Ministry of Industry is also preparing a digital platform for data collection and analysis in support of decision making related to IMC services. The digital platform is planned to be used in 2023 as a medium of communication and transaction between IMC and center of excellence of universities, research institutions, as well as manufacturing industry companies in virtual collaboration.
IMC is expected to continue to develop dynamically, adaptively, and innovatively into a collaborative institution that can provide one-stop solution services for solving industrial problems in terms of mastery of technology and innovation.
Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Dody Widodo, said that the IMC is targeted to be completed and start operating in 2024. "IMC is designed to be a collaboration center for industrial companies, universities, research institutions, industrial communities, and the government in developing and increasing industrial technology processing," he added.
