JAKARTA - Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan emphasized that micro and small businesses (UMK) were the drivers of the Indonesian economy during the post-pandemic economic recovery.

Therefore, the government facilitates ownership of the Business Identification Number (NIB) for these business actors.

"I would like to express my appreciation to the UMK players who have taken care of NIB for the sustainability of their future business," he said in an official statement, Friday, December 2.

"Hopefully it can be a momentum in encouraging the expansion of the export market for Indonesian products as well as being a driver of the Indonesian economy during the post-pandemic recovery period," he continued.

In order to achieve a competitive business world, said Zulhas, the Ministry of Trade is always ready and open and fully supports collaboration and cooperation with all stakeholders.

In addition, the Ministry of Trade encourages UMK players to immediately update the legality they have pocketed and for business actors who do not have a permit to immediately take care of NIB.

Zulhas emphasized that the convenience for UMK players is a priority because it makes the biggest contribution in creating jobs in Indonesia.

"The provision of NIB for individual UMK players is the government's step in improving the country's economy after the COVID-19 pandemic. This is also a form of government attention to develop individual businesses so that they become big entrepreneurs who can increase the wheels of economic growth in the regions," Zulhas explained.

The issuance of NIB became the initial capital in managing export and import licensing for regulated products or commodities.

In addition, the licensing system for exports and imports at the Ministry of Trade is also integrated with the Indonesia Single Window (SINSW) System at the National Single Window (LNSW) Institute together with other ministries related to the implementation of export-imports.

Currently, licensing at the Ministry of Trade has been integrated with Online Single Submission (OSS).

The licensing consists of seven types of Business Licensing and seven types of Business Licensing Permits to Support Business Activities (PB UMKU) from the Directorate General of Domestic Trade.

In addition, there are seven types of PB UMKU permits from the Directorate General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order and 25 Business Licensing from the Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency.

"Because of that, for UMK players, both individuals and business entities, to be able to register their businesses through OSS so that with NIB they will get access to financing and other business assistance more easily," said Zulhas.
