JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir admitted that the state-owned stun company, PT PLN (Persero), is still experiencing oversupply or excess electricity supply.

According to him, this will be an obstacle when the company makes an energy transition from fossil to new and renewable energy (EBT).

Even so, Erick emphasized that the energy transition to EBT is inevitable. It's just that there are some notes that the government and BUMN must complete.

One of them is the excess electricity supply.

"That's an obstacle, but when the supply is not over, the addition of new electricity with EBT," he told reporters when met in the DPR RI area, written Wednesday, November 30.

Erick explained that the Ministry of SOEs also continues to encourage the overall transformation of PLN's business in the midst of climate change, which requires companies to take strategic steps to make an energy transition.

"Because if we look at it, that with a new global trend, like it or not, this climate change continues," he explained.

On this occasion, Erick admitted that he had inaugurated or launched the PLN Subholding Holding.

This step will bring PLN to become a technology-based, innovative and future-oriented energy company towards EBT.

The PLN subholding in question includes PLN Energi Primer Indonesia, PLN Nusantara Power (Generation Co 1), PLN Indonesia Power (Generation Co 2) and PLN ICON Plus

"We need to realize that we have carried out the transformation of PLN through holding and subholding, which holds PLN will focus on transmission and retail," he said.

"There is a subholding beyond KwH or outside of electricity, there are cables that are useful for Indonesia's digital economy, it can reach IDR 4,500 trillion by 2030. So we intervene like that," he continued.
