The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) of the Ministry of Finance reported that 52.9 million population identification numbers (NIK) had been integrated with the Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) as of November 2022.

Director of Counseling, Services and Public Relations of DGT Neilmaldrin Noor at the DGT media meeting in Batam, Riau Islands stated, meaning that around 75 percent of the identity of the population has been integrated with NPWP.

"Update NIK with NPWP, until November 15, 2022 at 14.55 WIB, there are already more than 52.9 million NIK that have been integrated with NPWP. So, if we present it, it's already more than 75 percent," said the man who is familiarly called Neil, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 30.

Meanwhile, the application of this new format has started since July 2022, which until December 31, 2023, tax administration services will still be carried out on a limited basis for the use of NIK and NPWP in a 16 digit format.

"That this will be integrated, this can still be used by taxpayers (WP) until December 31, 2023," said Neil.

As is known, the mandate of integrating the NIK with the NPWP is stated in the Regulation of the Minister of Finance (PMK) 112/PMK.03/2022 concerning NPWP for Individual Taxpayers, Mandatory Tax of the Agency, and Mandatory Tax of Government Agencies.

This effort is to make it easier for taxpayers (WP) to carry out tax service transactions, and is the first step to synergize data and information collected in several ministries/agencies (K/L), as well as other parties who have similar administrative systems.

Furthermore, the government will integrate population data with a 16 digit NPWP until the end of next year, so that more and more valid NIKs will apply as NPWPs.

"This will still be used by taxpayers until December 31, 2023, we have often done some socializations," said Neil.

If invalid data is found, the relevant taxpayer will be contacted by the DGT and asked for confirmation.

The government stipulates that starting January 1, 2024, individual taxpayers must use a NIK and other taxpayers using a 16 digit NPWP for administrative purposes.

In addition, other parties who provide administrative services must also use a 16-digit NIK and NPWP format.
