JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono revealed that foreign investors can be involved in the construction of the National Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago in East Kalimantan.

Minister Basuki emphasized that according to President Jokowi's direction to accelerate the development of IKN, foreign investors can also be involved, for example, to build hospitals, schools, markets, and other infrastructure.

"It is planned that in the 3rd quarter of 2023 the President will meet with IKN investors who are interested and determine what part of the development in IKN in detail," Basuki said in his statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, November 30.

IKN development is not only just moving government offices, but also to change the way it works in making activities easier.

"Investors do not need to hesitate in obtaining permits for development at IKN. I see that the representatives of the companies present this afternoon are very relevant to IKN development," said Basuki.

Basuki Hadimuljono held a meeting with the Japanese Delegation led by Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Main Advisor Hiroto Izumi on Tuesday (29/11).

This meeting discussed the follow-up to strengthening cooperation between the Governments of Indonesia and Japan in the construction of the State Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago, in East Kalimantan.

Minister Basuki said the cooperation between the Government of Indonesia and Japan in the construction of IKN had begun with the delivery of several experts, especially for the ongoing supervision of IKN infrastructure development.

"The Ministry of PUPR has started the construction of basic infrastructure in IKN, including the construction of national toll roads and roads, the provision of raw water, sanitation, houses for IKN construction workers, as well as the preparation of ready-to-build land (land development) for government offices and the Presidential Palace along with the Vice President," said Basuki.

Meanwhile, Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Main Advisor Hiroto Izumi said the meeting was attended by representatives from 12 large companies in Japan engaged in infrastructure development with their own specializations.

"The transfer of IKN in Indonesia is a hot topic for us in Japan, we look forward to the follow-up to today's meeting," said Hiroto Izumi.
