JAKARTA - The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) through the Waste Management Coordinator appreciates PLN's steps to support infrastructure development through the use of FABA.

One of them is the use of FABA from the Tanjung Jati B (TJB) Steam Power Plant (PLTU) to build concrete roads to sea embankments to prevent tidal flooding in Demak.

"Thank you to my friends at PLN Tanjung Jati B who have started the use of FABA as much as possible, such as for the construction of roads and sea embankments so that this activity can be an example of other friends," said Assistant Deputy for Waste and Waste Management, Rizal Panrelly in a written statement, Monday, November 28.

He also said that it is impossible to resolve the north coast alone, but must collaborate together to involve various parties.

"With the momentum point starting from here, we invite the Jepara Public Works Service (PU), the Demak Public Works Service and PLN Tanjung Jati B to jointly take advantage of the existing potential to overcome the problems of our brothers and sisters in Demak," he added.

Previously, PLN had conducted a visit to Bedono Village, Sayung, Demak, to see the use of FABA in the construction of sea embankments and 50-meter-long concrete roads.

Not only in Demak, as many as 1,700 metric tons of FABA from PLTU Tanjung Jati B have also been used to support the Jepara Public Works Service for the Bangsri market yard, Jepara. The utilization of FABA was initiated through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program PLN Tanjung Jati B.

General Manager of PLN's Tanjung Jati B Generation Main Unit, Hari Cahyono, explained that this program is a form of the company's commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles in creating sustainable economic development.

"We have used FABA for road mixtures, paving bricks, and houses ranging from foundations, walls to tiles from FABA. Currently, we are also in the process of expanding permits to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) for the use of FABA to 19 types," he said.

Hari also hopes that the approval of the use of foundation layer piles using FABA by the Director General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), so that FABA PLTU Tanjung Jati B will soon be able to be used more massively, easily and cheaply, including for regencies in various locations.

PLN continues to increase the use of ash from burning coal or fly ash and bottom ash (FABA) for infrastructure development.
