Efforts By The National Police To Get Rid Of Children's Fear Behind The Cianjur Earthquake Disaster

JAKARTA - The National Police are not only focused on the evacuation process and distribution of aid to communities affected by the Cianjur earthquake, West Java. This is because the Bhayangkara Corps also provides trauma healing services, especially to children.

"This trauma healing activity was carried out in collaboration with the Psychology Bureau of the SSDM Polri, Korbrimob Polri, Psychology Section of the West Java Police HR Bureau, Bhabinkamtibmas Cianjur and Unicef Police," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo in his statement, Saturday, November 26.

Meanwhile, trauma healing services are provided at several evacuation points, one of which is at the Binaraga Football Field, Panyaweuyan Village RT.02 RW.01 Ciherang Village, Pacet District, Cianjur Regency

Based on the data, there are 40 children and 33 mothers who are undergoing the program to relieve trauma or pressure.

In the process, continued Dedi, officers used the method of playing, singing, and providing snacks to children, relaxation, mindful activities, individual counseling and group counseling for mothers. So, they can forget for a moment what happened to them.

"Children and mothers look happy and this is to treat the trauma of the refugees after the earthquake," said Dedi.

For information, the earthquake that hit the Cianjur area on November 21, 2022, according to data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) as of Friday, November 25, has killed 310 people.

The disaster also caused damage to many houses and caused many people to be injured and displaced.
