JAKARTA - In order to strengthen reliability in natural gas supply, PT PGN Tbk as Pertamina Gas Subholding collaborates with Husky - CNOOC Madura Limited (HCML) and Petrochina International Jabung Ltd to obtain potential additional gas supply.

Therefore, PGN signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the sale and purchase of gas represented by the President Director of PT PGN Tbk M. Haryo Yunianto, President Director of Petrocina International Ltd Qian Mingyang, and General Manager of HCML Kang An, Friday, November 25.

PGN signed an MOU with HCML for the sale and purchase of gas from the MDA-MBH-MDK-MBF Field, with a daily number of 14 MMSCFD contracts for 2022-2024 and 25 MMSCFD for 2025 and beyond.

In addition, PGN also signed an MoU with Petrochina International Jabung to buy gas from PSC Blok Jabung with a volume of around 5-20 BBTUD that PGN will use for 2024 2028. PGN will use gas supply from Petrochina to meet the growing gas needs of Batam.

"The additional supply from HCML will strengthen supply in the East Java region and simultaneously continue cooperation, last month PGN and HCML agreed to buy and sell gas from 3M Field, so this time it will be a follow-up collaboration for gas purchases from 4M Field. Meanwhile, the additional supply from the Jabung Block will strengthen gas supply for the Batam area," said PT PGN Tbk President Director, M. Haryo Yunianto.

The supply of gas from Petrochina to PGN is the government's effort to meet domestic gas needs. Haryo continued that the implementation of the MoU was part of PGN's efforts to create a good economic ecosystem by providing a maintained gas supply and competitive prices. With the increase in multisource supply, PGN's confidence in expanding the natural gas market will increase.

In addition, with an integrated natural gas infrastructure system, the existing gas allocation is expected to be channeled into multi-destination and PGN wants to intensify the role of natural gas which is predicted to be more vital during the global energy transition period.

PGN projects that the demand for gas will increase, so we will encourage to increase supply sources and increase the reach of gas infrastructure. The goal is that natural gas can have a multiplier impact on energy independence, downstream gas industry, and have another positive impact on the national economy," concluded Haryo.
