Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Teten Masduki said that currently 2.7 million micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) already have a business identification number (NIB) thanks to the Garda Transformation Formal Micro Enterprises (Garda Transfumi) program.

"Our target this year is 2.5 million MSMEs to get NIB, today it has exceeded yes, now 2.7 million have received NIB. And, this is the biggest business for micro, 2.6 million," said Teten at the Garda Transfumi Appreciation Day event, quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 24.

Teten explained that the number of MSMEs in Indonesia reached 64.2 million, but only half of those who needed the identification number tried.

In addition, based on data from the Halal Product Guarantee Administration Agency (BPJPH), the estimated number of MSMEs that require halal certification is also around 30 million.

He emphasized that the target for halal certification and NIB as many as three million MSMEs a year was considered too long because it took 10 years to complete it. Therefore, Teten wants the halal certification and NIB to be accelerated.

"In my opinion, it took too long, yes, twice the government. Now, next year we will try to boost again and maybe later we will perfect the working method," said Teten.

The Coordinating Minister for SMEs explained that as many as 10 million MSMEs have been identified as having a permanent business. Teten said that the MSMEs will be prioritized to get an NIB, a halal certificate, and a distribution permit first.

Data on the 10 million MSMEs, continued Teten, will later be submitted to the regional cooperative and SME offices along with Transfumi Guard volunteers to be given assistance and access to get NIB and certification in business.
