Jokowi Pamer Successfully Disabled Inflation When The World Faces Challenges At The Muhammadiyah Congress

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) showcased Indonesia's ability to control inflation compared to other countries. Even though the world is currently facing challenges due to the Russian-Ukraine war and the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was conveyed by Jokowi when giving a speech at the Muhammadiyah Congress in Solo, Central Java. The number one person in Indonesia said the inflation rate could be reduced by 5.7 percent.

"This means that the average price increase is around five percent. This is much lower than the average inflation in world countries," Jokowi said as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube show, Saturday, November 19.

Not only that, Jokowi also exhibited economic conditions in the country which he considered encouraging. "The third quarter of our economy can grow 5.72 percent and our trade will also increase by 58 percent," said the former Governor of DKI Jakarta.

Jokowi said the increase in economic conditions was due to being able to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. He claims, Indonesia is one of the countries with a high vaccination achievement of 440 million doses.

Even so, Indonesia still has to be vigilant. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic problem, there has been a war between Russia and Ukraine which has caused the breakdown of the global supply chain to increase food prices.

"In the midst of tough and very difficult challenges and very difficult, it is not easy, thank God, we can manage the economic recovery well," he said.

He also reminded that national transformation continues. Downstreaming of industry must be a priority so that it gets added value that strengthens the domestic economy.

"We must not export raw materials for decades. We must do downstream infusion in the country in order to get added value and we also boost so that our MSMEs can advance to class by digitizing," he concluded.
