JAKARTA - The subholding of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), namely PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik (PSL) continues to seek to optimize assets and access to improve logistics services and the development of hinterland.

"Pelindo Solusi Logistik is very interested in access to and from the port to facilitate the flow of goods, as well as optimize the assets in Pelindo, including depots and warehouses," said PT PSL President Director Joko Noerhudha as quoted by Antara, Friday, November 18.

Joko said PSL optimizes assets through the warehousing and development business of hinterland or industrial areas around the port.

He said Pelindo Solusi Logistik currently has hundreds of depots and warehouses that were previously managed by PT Pelindo I-IV and its subsidiaries before the merger.

The owners of goods can take advantage of the advantages of the location and warehouse services of Pelindo for consolidation activities for export/import goods and as buffer inventory, because service users do not need to build their own warehouses.

"They get more efficient services, visibility of the process (tracking), coupled with warehouse locations near the port," he said.

Therefore, PSL will focus on developing hinterland, one of which is in Kijing, Mempawah, West Kalimantan.

According to him, this industrial area is very close to the port, so transportation is really efficient, both for raw materials and final products.

In addition, PSL is also developing a Bonded Logistics Center (PLB) in Benoa, Bali, for high-value products transported by air transportation mode, as an alternative to anticipating the logistics area of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport which is already very dense.

For access, Joko said that PSL is trying to complete the Cibitung-Cilincing toll road access.

The congestion that occurred in Marunda or Cakung to Tanjung Priok Port was one of the barriers to the flow of goods to the largest port in Indonesia.

Kongesti terjadi di akses masuk Tanjung Priok. Padahal, port sudah cukup efisien, arus pembangunan juga lebih cepat dan produktivitas meningkat, katanya.

He said the traffic jam was detrimental to all parties, especially transportation entrepreneurs who could not increase productivity because access to ports had not yet been smooth.

Supposedly, with the distance from the hinterland area such as Bekasi and Karawang, these trucks can take 3-4 trips a day.

"This traffic jam must eventually be borne by entrepreneurs. If it can be 3-4 trips, the cost per unit can drop quite significantly," said the alumni of Civil Engineering at the Institute of Technology on November 10, Surabaya.

He added that the improvement of access roads to Tanjung Priok from the hinterland direction in East Jakarta is very crucial to overcome to achieve the vision of The Best Solution Provider for an Integrated Logistics Ecosystem.

"In the logistics business, Pelindo's Logistics Solutions must be able to provide value to customers by offering process efficiency and visibility through standardization and digitization of services," he said.
