Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani said that the support for funds worth 293 million dollars or IDR 4.2 trillion from the Islamic Development Bank (Islamic Development Bank/IsDB) has complemented the government's commitment to strengthening health services in Indonesia.

This support is given to improve maternal and child services in six vertical hospitals in Indonesia, one of which starts from the Central General Hospital (RSUP) Prof. Dr. IGNG Ngoerah in Bali.

"I would like to express my appreciation to IsDB for supporting the construction of this hospital through strengthening the national referral hospital project and vertical technical units," Sri Mulyani said in a statement, Thursday, November 17.

In addition to the RSUP in Bali, there are five other hospitals that will be improved in the program, including Dharmais Cancer Hospital (RS) in Jakarta, Friendship Hospital in Jakarta, Doctor Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung, West Java, Dr Sardjito Hospital in Yogyakarta, and Dr Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital in South Sulawesi.

Sri Mulyani said this program is part of Indonesia's health reforms, especially in terms of supply, which builds strengthening basic health services ranging from health centers to referral hospitals.

This is in line with the government's commitment to allocating a very large budget for health, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are all following the development of the national economic recovery program and handling the COVID-19 pandemic as the most important priority in the last three years, namely in 2020 to 2022," he explained.

In order to overcome the pandemic, Sri said, the health budget was increased from 5 percent to 9.4 percent in 2022 or IDR 255.3 trillion.

"Therefore, IsDB support of IDR 4 trillion creates a more catalysty approach, not only in terms of funding, but in the control of providing quality and improvement in order to build health services," he concluded.
