BALI - PT PLN (Persero) through the subholding of PT PLN Indonesia Power collaborates with leading foreign solar panel companies and two domestic companies to be able to increase the penetration of solar panels in Indonesia.

This step is to accelerate the energy transition to achieve the net zero emission target by 2060.

The signing of a memorandum of understanding was carried out by the President Director of PLN Indonesia Power, Edwin Nugraha Putra, Director of PT Agra Surya Investindo, Harvey Tjokro, Chairman often Solar, Gao Jifang, Attorney In Fact of PT Daya Anugerah Sejati Utama, Franky Oesman Widjaja and witnessed directly by the Minister of Investment/BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia and Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (KADIN) Arsjad Rasjid on the sidelines of the G20 event, Sunday, November 13.

Through this collaboration, PLN Indonesia Power collaborates to build factories, develop business schemes and marketing models for solar panels in the country.

It is hoped that this company will become the largest solar panel company in Southeast Asia and its production will be carried out directly by the nation's children.

President Director of PLN Indonesia Power Edwin Nugraha Putra explained that this step is one of the efforts to increase domestic national capacity to strengthen solar power generation infrastructure (PLTS).

"Currently, the huge market opportunity has not been fully supported by the domestic solar panel industry. There is still a disparity in the price of domestic solar panels, where import prices are 40 percent cheaper than domestic prices," said Edwin.

Edwin explained that this price disparity was due to the domestic supply chain which had not yet been formed end to end.

Even though the government's target in TKDN PLTS reaches 60 percent, currently it is only 40 percent.

"For this reason, PLN continues to encourage ecosystem development and facilitate national capabilities through the manufacture of solar panels manufacturing by presenting manufacturers with the latest technology," said Edwin.

This step is also PLN's effort to provide a real, sustainable and affordable clean energy-based electricity supply for the community.

"By building this industry, PLN will solve the dilemma of cheap energy vs expensive clean energy, so that PLN can realize the mandate in providing electricity that is cheap and clean," concluded Edwin.
