JAKARTA - The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) will again hold a convention 3nd International Convention on Indonesian Upstream Oil and Gas 2022 (IOG 2022).

This international convention was held from November 23 to 25, 2022, online and offline in Bali.

Deputy Head of SKK Migas, Fatar Yani Abdurrahman, said that the existence of this international convention is expected to increase the performance of the upstream oil and gas sector.

"We hope that with the 2022 IOG Convention, stakeholders in the oil and gas industry can sit down and find solutions to improve the oil and gas investment climate ahead, especially ahead of Indonesia Gold 2045," he said in Jakarta, Tuesday, November 15.

According to him, currently Indonesia has a target of lifting oil of 1 million barrels per day (BPH) and 12 billion standard cubic feet per day (BSCFD) by 2030.

To pursue the oil and gas lifting target, strong efforts are needed to improve the oil and gas investment climate in Indonesia.

"At least it is necessary to invest upstream oil and gas of up to 160 billion US dollars in the next 10 years to 2030," he continued.

Fatar said Indonesia's largest oil and gas convention will focus on efforts to improve the oil and gas investment climate by strengthening collaboration while continuing to adapt to the energy transition.

According to him, the role of the oil and gas industry is increasingly significant in line with Indonesia's commitment to net-zero emissions targets.

Fatar hopes that the oil and gas sector can increase production and reduce emissions simultaneously during the transition period, so that the country's economic growth remains positive.

In fact, he continued, the process of going to net zero emissions has already begun to be implemented by oil and gas industry players such as the Ubadari field and the Vorwata Field managed by BP.

Not only that, Indonesia's potential is still promising for investors.

However, business actors again emphasized some of the classic issues that have been of concern.

These issues include improvements in terms of fiscal, legal certainty, data quality, and infrastructure availability.

Chairman of the IOG 2022 Organizing Committee, Mohammad Kemal, said that there are three major parts of the concept that will be presented at the IOG 2022 event, namely Economic Recovery, Energy Security, and Energy Transition.

This is linear with Indonesian government programs and Indonesia's more sustainable targets.

This concept is a continuation of the two previous IOG events.

The target participants this year are 10,000 online people and 1,000 offline with the number of speakers reaching more than 120.

"Hopefully, in the remainder of 2022 the upstream oil and gas industry has completed things that must be improved and prepared 2023 opportunities to be carried out better," concluded Kemal.
