Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto invited technology company from the United States (US), Amazon Web Services (AWS), to build an education center in Indonesia.

In a meeting with the AWS delegation in Nusa Dua, Bali, as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 15, Coordinating Minister Airlangga said Amazon's support in increasing Indonesia's Human Resources (HR) capacity would bring great benefits to both parties.

If Amazon wants to invest in education, the Indonesian government will prepare convenience, one of which is in the form of tax incentives given to industries involved in vocational education programs, including research and development activities to produce innovations, in accordance with regulations that apply a maximum of 200 percent.

"The Indonesian government also offers AWS to invest in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) which are focused on the digital economy to support digital transformation in Indonesia," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga.

Meanwhile, AWS Vice President for Global Public Policy Michael Punke is committed to continuing to support Indonesia's digital transformation, by building and operating Data Centers in Indonesia (for the Asia Pacific region).

Meanwhile, he said the investment value to support Indonesia's digital transformation was USD 5 billion in the next 15 years.

During the meeting Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto was accompanied by the Chairman of Commission I DPR RI, Sesmenko Perekonomian, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Deputy Chairman III of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce for Maritime Affairs, Investment and International Relations, and Assistant Deputy for European Economic Cooperation, Africa and the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Michael Punke was accompanied by the Head of Public Policy Asia Pacific and Japan AWS and the Head of Public Policy Indonesia AWS.
