JAKARTA President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the transformation of the digital economy is a priority for the government, which is currently being intensified.

According to Jokowi, this step is in line with one of the three main agendas of the 2022 G20 Indonesia Presidency.

"This is one of the keys to a sustainable economy that is useful in encouraging economic recovery," he said in a series of agendas for the G20 Summit in Nusa Dua, Bali on Monday, November 14.

Jokowi added that the way will continue to have a positive impact through inclusive and collaborative efforts.

"Indonesia itself accelerates the transformation carried out through breakthrough payment system steps, namely through the development of QRIS, BI FAST, and SNAP and the acceleration team for the expansion of regional digitization to accelerate the digitization of government transactions," he said.

He added that ASEAN is one step ahead of other countries for implementing cross-border payment interconnections.

This can be seen from the QR cross border cooperation between Indonesia and Thailand and the fast payment interconnection between Singapore and Thailand.

"It's time for this collaboration to be formalized in the regional payment connectivity as a concrete manifestation of the implementation of the G20 roadmap," said Jokowi.

"I support this initiative to continue to be expanded to the global level because the ease of access to payments will have a major impact on the economy, especially the tourism, trade and MSME sectors, thus encouraging stronger and more inclusive economic recovery," concluded President Jokowi.
