Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno targets 2,300 tourism workers in Lombok (NTB) to be certified for national standard tourism competencies until ASEAN throughout 2022, to meet the industrial needs of labor.
"For Lombok in 2022, the certification target is to target 2,700 tourism workers and by 2023 there will be 3,900 tourism workers. As of today, 2,000 tourism workers in the fields of hotels, restaurants, tour guides, travel agencies and SPAs," said Sandiaga Uno during an official statement, Sunday, November 13.

To meet this target, Sandiaga said, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy held a 'Cartification of Tourism Human Resources Competency in Handling Tourism' in collaboration with the Cakra Wisata Indonesia Professional Certification Institute (LSP), industry, associations, and the Regional Government of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
The program includes upskilling (enhancing competence), reskilling (enforcement of competence), and new skills (a new competence addition) so that tourism human resources as well as the creative economy excel, be competent, and be competitive.

Tourism HR competency certification activities were held in 6 priority tourism destinations, namely Lake Toba (Sumut), Wakatobi (Sultra), Labuan Bajo (NTT), Lombok (NTB), Borobudur-Yogyakarta-Prambanan (Yogya and Central Java), and Bromo-Tengger-Semeru (East Java).
The target throughout 2022 is that 18,000 tourism workers can be certified and in 2023 the number will increase to 27,000 participants.
Menparekraf also encouraged this activity to continue so that the target of certifying the competence of tourism workers this year, especially in Lombok, could be achieved.
"The target for realization as of today is 74 percent, there are 26 percent more that must continue to be pursued. This certification is part of recovery, increasing productivity in the tourism sector, so that our human resources are competitive," he said.
Sandi admits that he has a tough task of absorbing more jobs, considering the target set by his party is to create 1.1 million new jobs in 2022 and 4.44 new quality jobs in 2024.
He hopes that the competency certification of tourism human resources can be part of the momentum of efforts to recover the local and national economics.
