JAKARTA - Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan said the government would optimize the Medium Rice Supply Availability and Price Stabilization (KPSH) program to overcome rice price fluctuations. Through this program, said Zulkifli, people can still obtain rice at affordable prices. "The implementation of this medium rice KPSH is a government policy instrument to prevent and adapt rice price fluctuations, so that people can obtain rice at affordable prices," he said in an official statement, Friday, November 11. Zulhas, Zulkifli Hasan's nickname, said in the KPSH medium rice program, Perum Bulog was assigned to fill the supply of medium rice continuously and evenly to all rice traders throughout the people's market, modern or supermarkets, rice retail traders, and directly to consumers throughout Indonesia. The highest retail price (HET) is adjusted according to the region. The distribution of KPSH of medium rice nationally until November 9, 2022 is 878,155 tons, or equivalent to 114 percent total realization in 2021. Meanwhile, the realization of KPSH medium rice in West Java is 95,608 tons.

Towards Christmas and New Year, Zulhas said, it is necessary to continue to anticipate the increase in demand, especially in areas where the majority of the population celebrate Christmas and areas contributing to high inflation. "One way is to increase synergy and coordination with local governments so that people can enjoy a fair price to be able to meet their needs at affordable prices," said Zulhas. Based on the results of price monitoring at Tanjungsari People's Market, commodities that were monitored stable compared to last week, November 3, were premium rice of Rp. 12,000 per kg, granulated sugar Rp. 13,500 per kg, bulk cooking oil of Rp. 13,500/liter, oil of Rp. 14,000 per liter, packaged cooking oil of Rp. 18,000 per liter, wheat flour of Rp. 11,000 per kg, beef of Rp. 140,000 per kg, and chicken meat of Rp. 32,000 per kg. Meanwhile, medium rice fell from Rp. 10,000 per kg to Rp. 9,200 per kg. Another commodity whose price decreased was curly red chilies to Rp. 40,000 per kg, large red chilies Rp. 40,000 per kg, red cayenne peppers Rp. 50,000 per kg, and shallots Rp. 32,000 per kg. On the other hand, pure chicken eggs rose from Rp. 26,000 per kg to Rp. 27,000 per kg and garlic from Rp. 24,000 per kg to Rp. 25,000 per kg.
