BALI - PT PLN (Persero) operates two Solar Power Plant (PLTS) and Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Rooftop or PLTS roofs at 33 PLN Group building locations which will be part of the energy transition showcase at the G20 Bali Summit.
This is a manifestation of Indonesia's commitment that the highest G20 meeting is supplied from clean energy.
Bali Governor I Wayan Koster during the Energy Transition Day event appreciated PLN's steps in making the transition to cleaner energy.
"We must support the program of the President Director of PLN. Infrastructure support for clean energy carried out by PLN must continue to be encouraged. Indeed, this transition cannot be done alone, we all must collaborate," said Koster to reporters, Tuesday, November 1.
Koster emphasized that Bali as an international tourist destination fully supports the government and PLN's plan to achieve the net zero emission (NZE) target.
For this reason, Bali currently has regional policies to be able to support this.
"We have a RUED and a policy so that in the future Bali can become an energy-independent region. This means that Bali wants to become a province that is fully supplied from EBT-based electricity so that it can support a clean and energy-independent Balinese ecosystem," said Koster.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said the series of Energy Transition Day events in Bali as well as exhibited two PLTS projects that were included in the electricity system in Bali.
"We operate 2 PLTS, which means that in the implementation of the G20 Summit, Bali is supplied with clean electricity and as a form of Indonesia's real commitment to supporting the energy transition which is an important discussion point in the G20 Summit," said Darmawan.
He detailed that the two PLTS are Hybrid PLTS in Nusa Penida with a capacity of 3.5 megawatt peak (MWp) spread over an area of 4.5 hectares.
To maintain the reliability of this PLTS, added the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a capacity of 1.84 megawatt hour (MWh).
"This means that PLTS can significantly reduce the use of fuel that has been going on so far," added Darmawan.
Second, PLN also operates PLTS Apung Muara Tukad with a capacity of 100 kilowatt peak (KWp). The PLTS is located in the middle of the heart of the city of Bali and is floating on the Kuta beach covering an area of 350 square meters.
Not only that, PLN also installed PV Rooftop in 33 locations for the PLN Group building with a total capacity of 890.55 kiloWatt peak (kWp).
This PLN step is also in line with the Bali Provincial Government's policy of promoting solar PV rooftop as a form of Bali's efforts to become an environmentally friendly province.
"This PLTS operation shows PLN's readiness to oversee Indonesia's energy transition to achieve the energy mix target and net zero emissions in 2060, as well as a form of the company's commitment to the principles of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) in creating sustainable economic development," he concluded.
