JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) is collaborating with Bhumi Varta Technology to encourage the digitization of MSMEs.
Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno said the projected growth of the digital economy of up to 150 billion US dollars by 2025 was a momentum for the nation's economic recovery.
The amount of projection is able to open up business opportunities and employment opportunities for the tourism sector and the creative economy, especially for MSME players.
"We see that the growth of this digital economy continues to increase significantly, last year (2021) US$70 billion, in 2025 it is predicted that 150 billion US dollars will be predicted. This opens up wide business opportunities and employment opportunities," Sandiaga said in an electronic message received in Jakarta, Friday, October 28.
Sandiaga also highlighted the huge influence of digitalization in encouraging the development of MSMEs. Moreover, it is known that Indonesia's digital economy growth reached 4.7 billion US dollars during the first quarter of 2021. This achievement makes Indonesia the most popular investment destination in Southeast Asia, surpassing Singapore.
"There is also a need for technology and innovation that can provide solutions for MSMEs and technology presented by Mr. Martyn here, it turns out that it is very possible to increase business opportunities," he explained.
Sandi further explained that through Varta Bhumi Technology, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy can obtain various location-based information.
Among them are data on the movement of tourists, such as lodging locations, accommodation to product shopping while they are in Indonesia.
"We can get data on where tourists go, where they stop, where they shop, where to shop for their food, where to shop for their fashion, where to shop for their crafts, where to live, where to accommodate them," said Sandiaga.
For MSMEs, he continued, this location-based technology can be used to map the interests and needs of tourists. Thus, MSMEs can take business opportunities to be able to create jobs.
"With this information about the location, we can determine the direction of our policy to be able to provide services to tourists, thus increasing their experience and beautiful memories for tourists, so that they will come back again," he explained.
Founder and Investor of Bhumi Varta Technology, Martyn Terpilowski also conveyed the same thing. According to him, the data held by his party can be accessed easily by all parties. The goal is that all parties can take consideration in determining policy direction.
"There is a lot of data available in Indonesia, but now it is not organized, so what we are doing is bringing it together in one place, where everyone can enter the application and take data, all companies, all governments or non-profit organizations to make policies," he explained.
