Support The Effectiveness Of National Salt Production, Gaslink Subholding Gas Pertamina Joins PT Garam Factory

JAKARTA - Pertamina Gas Subholding through its affiliate PT Gagas Energi Indonesia (Gagas) also supports the availability of national salt through the distribution of Gaslink to one of PT Garam's production units. The supply of gas fuel through Gaslink began to be carried out at one of the production sites owned by PT Garam in Manyar, Gresik. Indonesia is listed as one of the longest coastline countries in the world. Although not all existing coastlines can be used as land to produce salt, domestic salt production can still be increased, one of which is through a more efficient production process. Salt dredging using a rotary dryer will cut production time by about 15 percent, compared to the salt drying process manually. “Gas Earth can be a fuel for salt drying machines, we make it a good market. So PGN and Gagas as Gas Group Subholding continue to work together to be able to serve even wider salt producers, so that they can increase the volume of natural gas distribution to customers through GasLink products in various segments, said Area Head Surabaya PT PGN Tbk, Arif Nurachman, Thursday 27 October. Gaslink is a PGN natural gas product that is compressed or commonly called Compresed Natural Gas (CNG) which can be distributed using a non-pipeline distribution mode. GasLink will be used by PT Garam as fuel in the salt drying process, so that the salt produced will be more perfect. In the drying process, PT Garam will need gas fuel of around 40,000 m3 per month. The supply of Gaslink will be supplied by Gagas by relying on gas supply sources from SPBG Ngagel, Surabaya. Gaslink will be sent using the Gas Transport Module (GTM) or a truck containing CNG natural gas with a total truck capacity of up to 1,000 m3. Arif stated that the distribution of Gaslink to PT Garam is a form of synergy between SOEs and affiliates in increasing the value of more each company and including for the benefit of the state and society. If the pipeline gas infrastructure arrives at the customer location, then PGN can continue the distribution of natural gas using piped gas so that customers will get even greater efficiency. This scheme will be implemented for PT Garam. Currently, PGN is still in the stage of connecting gas pipeline infrastructure to customer locations in Manyar, Gresik,” explained Hardiansyah. Currently, the total salt production by factories that have used Gaslink can reach 3-5 tons per day. Apart from PT Garam, Gagas currently also supplies several customers in East Java who also produce salt that will be marketed to meet domestic needs with a total salt capacity of up to 10 tons per day.
