MATARAM - The hotel room booking rate ahead of the prestigious World World World World World World World Superbike (WSBK) racing event is still below 10 percent.

WSBK itself will be held at the Mandalika Circuit on 11-13 November 2022.

"WSBK is only two weeks away, but hotel reservations (by WSBK spectators) in Mataram City are still below 10 percent," said Head of the Mataram Hotel Association (AHM) Yono Sulistyo as quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 27.

This condition, he said, is very different from WSBK 2021 and MotoGP activities in March 2022, where three months earlier all hotels in Mataram City had been fully ordered by spectators from various regions in Indonesia and abroad.

"Meanwhile, WSBK 2022, until now there has been no indication of an increase in hotel bookings," he said.

Related to that, said Yono, he hopes that the central government will enliven and disseminate information on these international activities through BUMN, the Ministry of Tourism, and other related ministries.

"Officers at the central government ministry must be present in Lombok to witness the WSBK, so that this event is more echoing and can attract many spectators," he said.

He admitted that the WSBK activity class was indeed below MotoGP, but if the central government participates in enlivening this activity, it is believed that the audience will also be interested and in the end it can have an impact on the hotel occupancy rate.

"If you only rely on the people who come, I think it's still hard. At WSBK 2021, many people were present because they might be curious about the condition of the circuit, so the enthusiasm of the residents at that time was high. But now it's down," he said.

Meanwhile, Yono said that hotel rates are currently still stable and some have even been lowered from official rates. For example, the official hotel tariff of IDR 1 million has now dropped to IDR 500,000 to IDR 600,000.

"Hotel tariffs depend on the demand and provision of existing hotels. However, our current condition is below the official tariff," he said.

On the other hand, Yono said, hotel occupancy in Mataram City is currently around 60-65 percent and this condition is already in the good category.

"If the hotel occupancy is 40 percent, we can only pay operational costs," he said.

Yono added that 60-65 percent of hotel occupancy is mostly domestic tourists who carry out meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions (MICE), and company activities.

"Meanwhile, local tourists usually come every weekend, starting Friday-Sunday," he said.
