The Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is ready to test the non-cash toll payment system without stopping or multi-lane free flow (MLFF) using the Cantas application on the Balikpapan-Samarinda Toll Road, near the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago.
Head of BPJT Danang Parikesit said that his party had identified six toll roads that would be tested by MLFF, namely Jagorawi, Jakarta-Cikampek, In-City, Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) including Ulujami-Pondok Aren-Serpong, Bali-Mandara, and Balikpapan-Samarinda.
"In preparation for our better exposure for IKN Nusantara, the Balikpapan-Samarinda Toll Road will also use the system and trials that are preliminary," said Danang in the IDX Channel Review Market, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, October 26.
According to him, BPJT will see a public response regarding his knowledge and experience in using the Cantas application for MLFF.
"We want gradually or gradually, we have one year to be able to ensure that quite a lot of people can access and use it in carrying out the transaction process," said Danang.
He also added that the key is the transition where BPJT does not fully use the Cantas MLFF application, but there are still paid toll gates that use e-toll cards.
"This is while we continue to monitor it, we also need to see the readiness of the technology in the community," he said.
The Ministry of PUPR also hopes to cooperate with mobile phone manufacturers that when buying a new cellphone, there is already the Cantas MLFF application so that people don't need to download it anymore.
In addition, the Ministry of PUPR also wants to work with car manufacturers where there are already route applications, it can actually be installed directly or embedded in new cars, especially for electric cars that can be directly installed in them.
"The challenge in implementing this MLFF is how people can adopt this technology more quickly and easily," said Danang.
Previously, the PUPR Ministry had installed MLFF sensor poles on the Jagorawi Toll Road Km 18+370 towards Ciawi and JORR S Km33+635.
The toll gate will function with an arbitrary enforcement data capture. So vehicles passing through the MLFF gate will be captured with data, and data from users will be processed in the central system.
