Pertamina EP Finds New Gas Reserves in East Java

JAKARTA - The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Activities (SKK Migas) and Cooperation Contract Contractors (KKKS) through Pertamina EP Regional 4 Zone 11 discovered gas reserves in East Java.

The discovery of the gas reserves was after Pertamina EP carried out the development of drilling the Hummingbird exploration well (KOL)-001 in the south of the Cepu Onshore working area, East Java.

The drilling of this exploration well has the main objective in the limestone of the Kujung Formation.

Acting (Plt) Head of the Program and Communication Division of SKK Migas, Mohammad Kemal said that currently SKK Migas and Pertamina EP are still conducting evaluations and tests to determine the value of the gas content of the location.

"The team is still working to monitor the volume of gas flow and clean up the drilling site. The discovery of this reserve is a collaboration of all parties to continue to commit to conducting exploration to increase national oil and gas production," said Kemal in an official statement, Monday, October 24.

The Hummingbird Exploration Well Drill (KOL)-001 started on 3 July 2022 and reached a depth of 2,592 FTMD on 2 October 2022, until it found indications of Gas Hydrocarbons.

Since yesterday, Saturday, October 22, 2022, Pertamina EP operating division workers under the supervision of SKK Migas are still monitoring the balance of gas coming out of exploration wells.

Meanwhile, positive results from the validation of Oil and Gas resources also occurred in the working area of ​​PHE ONWJ, which is Regional 2 Bekasi, West Java.

Based on the validation results of the GQX-1 Well, the resources in the GQ-GQS-GQX cluster reached 106.8 million BOE.

Findings between 100–500 million fall into the category of very large or big fish discoveries, equivalent to approximately Hidayah's findings by Petronas, which have now entered POD.

SKK Migas and KKKS continue to explore massively, aggressively and efficiently to pursue the target of 1 million barrels of oil and 12 BSCFD of gas by 2030.
