Appreciation For The Recovery Of The Indonesian Aviation Industry, ICAO Ready To Give HR Training Assistance

JAKARTA - The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) appreciates Indonesia's commitment to restore the national aviation industry.

ICAO President Mr. Salvatore Sciaccitano revealed that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the aviation industry is extraordinary. "In other countries, many airlines are closed, but the Indonesian government here provides full support and is here to seek recovery," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, October 18.

He added that prior to the pandemic, there were 4.5 billion passengers per year traveling by plane, and at a time of the pandemic it fell by about 60 percent. This is what makes me come here. That Indonesia's role in bringing aviation issues is a concern in Indonesia's leadership in the G20," he continued.

During his visit, the Minister of Transportation and President ICAO signed the MoU for cooperation in providing training assistance to other countries that required improving the quality of human resources in the field of aviation.

The Ministry of Transportation and ICAO have agreed to extend/continue this program until 2026. This is a joint commitment of ICAO to run the No Country Left Behind/No country is left behind to produce quality human resources, in order to maintain flight safety and security.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi also appreciated the presence of President ICAO to provide his material directly on how to face challenges and find opportunities for the recovery of the world aviation industry.
